It's Yuletide, everybody! Hooray! I think which story I wrote is painfully obvious if you stumble over it, but I don't know if any of you know the canon, so, maybe you won't discover it.

In any case, I received a fabulous story:

Padded Rooms and Stiletto Heels (1006 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Revenge (TV)
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Victoria Grayson, Emily Thorne

It’s a trade she’s more than willing to make.

It's a brilliant bit of backstory for Victoria, and does exactly what I want a Victoria story to do: deal in an upfront and direct way with the immorality of many of her actions, while keeping her human. At her most interesting moments, Victoria recognizes how wrong she is, but consciously chooses to continue on the same path, because she prefers this route to others. This is a story where she stands in the face of her own wrongdoing, looks it in the eye, and then keeps going.

I haven't finished reading in some of the "larger" fandoms (SCANDAL FIIIIIIIIC), but here are my recs so far:

I volunteered again to be a judge for [ profile] kinda_gay_award, the Jossverse femslash awards. The mods were very nice about how I was the absolute last judge to get results in, too, because I am a slacking slacker who slacks.

Anyway, I judged in two categories, "Best Canon" and "Best Dollhouse fic," and can whole-heartedly recommend the winners and runners up in those categories. In fact, I can recommend all the stories I judged--there wasn't a bad one in the bunch.

You can read the winners here and all the nominees, in all the categories, are here.

And look! I got a pretty picture for my troubles!

Dear Yuletide Author--

Hello! You are fabulous! I can't wait to read whatever you choose to write for me! Below the cuts, I've put some general thoughts for things I like about fic, and some specific thoughts about what I like about the canons I've requested, including links to relevant stuff I've written elsewhere. But, really, whatever you want to write is totally exciting!

Name 5 characters you think would have a good time hanging out with you and your friends - in your world, not theirs.

1. Fox Mulder (The X-Files). Because I basically spend all my time with cranky crackpots anyway. Because I am one.

2. Willow Rosenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). "Queer nerd" defines over 90% of my friends. We'd bake and hang out and talk about obscure subjects. It would be awesome.

3. Martha Jones (Doctor Who). As much as Donna is my favorite companion, I think that Martha is the one I'd get on best with; Donna has a very strong personality. (Actually, Donna reminds me of my college best friend, who is very in your face and always right about everything. Some people we shared a house with once apparently referred to her as "Loud Girl," as in, "Sounds like Loud Girl came over again." My college best friend is...hard to be best friends with.) Martha, we'd just chill and talk about pop culture and humanitarian work. She seems like she'd be a good listener.

4. Betty Suarez (Ugly Betty). She'd be a ton of fun to chill with. We'd be able to have some good Brooklyn vs Queens shit-talking. She and Isa and my grad school friend C would probably end up forming a Mexican Mafia Of Awesome at any party we invited her too. A big swath of my friend group has worked in publishing, which means they'd do industry talk.

5. Caroline and/or Echo (Dollhouse): I run with people with politics like Caroline's; she'd fit in well. But I think I'd rather hang out with Echo, especially post Epitaph-Two Echo (assuming a normal world!), once she's put herself together and figured out how to be one supercomplex person. IDK, though; I really could see myself hanging out with Caroline.
