amalnahurriyeh: XF: Scully from the episode Pusher. (scully pusher)
( Feb. 26th, 2013 07:03 pm)
Aha! I thought that [personal profile] wendelah1 was my writer for [community profile] purimgifts, and she was! She wrote me three lovely interstitial bits from Demons, pointing at the fractures that derive from the episode. Makes me want to rewatch it. They are here, here, and here. Go read them. Go. I'll be waiting here.

I, on the other hand, wrote a series of Buffy ficlets, called Three Games Willow Rosenberg Taught Someone. It is what it says on the tin; my recipient is a Willow/Oz shipper, so I ended up sticking to the earlier seasons, but the whole process really reminded me how much I love BtVS, helped by doing a bunch of rewatching to get prepped. Also, I normally think of myself as a writer of banter, but DAMN, there really is nothing like writing Jossverse banter. It is a whole other league. I'm glad these were so short; I don't think I could have sustained it for longer. :)
Title: By the End of the Day
Author: [personal profile] amalnahurriyeh/[ profile] amalnahurriyeh
Fandom: The X-Files
Pairing: Gen; entirely noromo compatible (as much as the series can be)
Rating: Teen (references to sex, adult language)
Warnings: None
Angst Level: references canon angst, does not dwell
Timeline: Pre-series through S9.

Summary: Five times Dana's med school friends helped her out.

Author's Note:

Written for [personal profile] wendelah1's donation to [ profile] fandomaid for Hurricane Sandy relief.

The original idea for this was for Scully to have her own "Lone Gunwomen," a group of friends she could turn to for support and ideas just like Mulder has. Originally, it was going to be called "The Lady Pathologists' Poker Club," but I decided it was unlikely that all of Scully's med school friends would choose pathology as a specialization. So, I mixed it up a bit. I hope it still satisfies.

This is pretty dire, Danes. )
Yo, people with LJs:

[ profile] het_reccers is having a cage match through midnight (EST) tonight. Mulder and Scully are running against some very nice people from a movie I've never seen.*

Vote right this minute.

*I'm sure I'll like it when I see it, given Whedon + superheroes, but the point remains.

Fandom: The X-Files
Pairing: Mulder/OMC; Mulder/Scully
Rating: R (nonexplicit sex)
Warnings: None
Author's Notes: (if any) Written for a prompt for [ profile] queer_fest 2011, "Mulder's Oxford girlfriend showing up was a disaster. His Oxford boyfriend, less so." Posted for the queer_fest 2012 Free For All, and for [ profile] xf_is_love. (I'm efficient and/or lazy.)

Title after Marcel Proust's Remembrance of Things Past; a good explanation here, complete with baking discussion, and the full quote here. Gayest possible literary reference, y/mfy?

Thanks to [personal profile] naraht, [ profile] sangria_lila, [ profile] cityesm and [ profile] maybe_amanda for betas and cheerleading at various points, including some truly excellent Oxford-picking.

Sebastian was embarrassed to be standing there with his socks damp and his hair falling over his forehead, but when the boss called, you answered. )
So, I recently realized that I have a favorite narrative kink. It goes like this:

1) Character A and Character B are in love.
2) Character A and Character B have sex.
3) The reason for Character A and Character B having sex has nothing to do with the fact that they are in love.
4) In the end, everything works out right.

That's it. It's fairly simple, but I recently realized that both of my current works in progress follow this pattern in one way or another. So does Sweet Nothings for the Numb. So does First/Second. It explains why I adore a good story like The Leap, and an awful story like Where There's A Will. It's what I like about the Aliens Made Them Do It (AMDTI) trope (I linked to fanlore there, not TVTropes; you're welcome).

The point of this post is to say that I just reread a story I loved which makes use of this trope, though the idea that the characters are in love at the beginning is a bit of a stretch: The Cost of Living (H50, Steve/Danny, no canon knowledge needed, Gay Issues handled well, contains casefile, also contains a lot of porn). It's a hooker!fic AU, but it's also a lot more than that. It's a good story. You should read it.

Author's Notes: This owes a debt of cheerleading to both [personal profile] wendelah1, for whom the first Gina Van de Kamp story was written, and who encouraged me to finish this and get it posted, and [ profile] maybe_amanda, who beta'd both this and the previous story, and nagged me to finish a couple of times.

Dear Mulder, I wanted to let you know that we received the birthday cards. )
The second anniversary of going into Open Beta is coming up in a few weeks. This means it's almost time for [community profile] three_weeks_for_dw, the annual festival where people post things only to DW and hold special celebretory events in DW comms.

During [community profile] three_weeks_for_dw, I'll be crossposting all of my personal posts; however, I may also do DW-only things as part of the festival. (I'll post links on LJ if it's fic or things.)

However, I'm also the mod of [community profile] philedom, the X-Files comm on DW, and I'm thinking of holding some kind of context/fandom appreciation challenge/something over the course of the three weeks, where we can do awesome/fun/silly things and enjoy ourselves. (You can see what we did last year here.)

If you're on DW, or even if you aren't, come on over to [community profile] philedom and let me know if you're interested in playing during the festival. (If it's just gonna be me, [personal profile] flourish, and [personal profile] wendelah1, well, that's no fun.)
Leigh and Amal are watching Born Again. Scully is yelling at Mulder.

Amal: Oh, wow, she was totally pregnant by this point. Hold up, I'll rewind so you can see why.
Leigh: I can see. I mean, look at her face.
Amal: That's not what I was looking at. *rewinds*
Leigh: Oh. Yeah. Man.
Amal: That's the first trimester for ya.

(Highlight of the episode apart from that: Scully remarking that pathologists are paranoid by nature. LOL TIMES A MILLION.)
amalnahurriyeh: XF: Scully from the episode Pusher. (scully pusher)

Today is Dana Scully's 47th birthday.

I decided to celebrate it through the classic art of "stealth-cosplay."

Somebody get me a body to carve up and somebody to shoot, stat.

(Why, yes, flist, I'm signing up for something else. Because I am, apparently, a glutton for punishment. But this is a great small-gifts exchange, and anyway, I'm a joiner.)

Dear Purim Treat-a-thon Writer,

Hooray! I have never done this exchange before, but, um, I like gifts? And writing things for people? And stories about resistance and radical transformation and women being awesome, and drunken revelry while wearing costumes, which is pretty much what Purim is about, to my knowledge? So I think I have found the right fic/art exchange.

OK, first some general notes about what I like in fic, which I kidnapped (and edited) from my Yuletide letter. I don't really have any graphic preferences, except that Pretty Things Are Pretty. Er, I like funny icons.

General Things. )

Fandom Notes (mostly favorite-character lists): The X-Files, Fringe, Doctor Who, The West Wing, BSG, ArchAndroid )

In conclusion, I hope I have not been too much of a bossy asshole! And I am really looking forward to whatever you want to make me! You can ask me questions if you want! Thank you in advance!

amalnahurriyeh: XF: Mulder looking intrigued, with the text "Hello, internet porn." (porn)
( Jan. 21st, 2011 12:14 pm)
So, I have like a millionty things I should post about. However, I wanted to make sure people know that Ye Olde Original Pornbattle is happening, Sunday through Thursday of this coming week. You can follow it here on LJ or here on DW; hint, the DW character count for a comment is much, much longer than on LJ, so you can fit longer stories into comments.

(Among my nefarious reasons for promoting this is that I kind of want there to be energy to run another round of xf_pornbattle at some point in the future. Because I'm, you know, Like That.)

Although prompts just closed, therefore the list isn't up, in the interest of nudging folks onward I've compiled all the posts with X-Files prompts. There's a lot of MSR, some other ships, and a ton of crossovers, most of which, interestingly enough, seem to be Scullyslash of various types.

prompt links under the cut )

I'm really excited to see so many XF prompts, especially since it seems like are so few active (and especially monofannish) XF fans these days. But, you know, ur-fandom of the internet, yadda yadda yadda, we will always be in everyone's hearts, blah blah blah, our protagonists are the sexiest characters in the history of television, you know what I mean. Go write some porn.

(And I'm mentally committing to myself that I'll do everything in my power to write something for this round. Even though I'm on vacation with my in-laws, which, in case you were curious, is not so conducive to pornifying. The goal is at least something MSR, and, then maybe a crossover if I can manage it. I thought I'd gotten all my porn-writing fix out of the way during xf_santa. I'm denying that instinct.)

Author: Amal Nahurriyeh, [personal profile] amalnahurriyeh/[ profile] amalnahurriyeh, amalnahurriyeh at gmail dot com
Summary: She isn't sure if it's him or her, but something's dead between them, and she doesn't know if it's coming back.
Pairing: MSR.
Rating: NC-17 (angsty sex)
Warnings: None.
Angst-level: Medium to medium-high, depending on how you're set.
Timeline/Spoilers: Post-ep for Kitsunegari, no spoilers past that point.

Author's Notes:

Written for [ profile] indigo_inferno for the 2010 [ profile] xf_santa. Sorry this is so late, but I do hope you enjoy.

I'd thank my wife for the beta, but she gets points deducted for the snark.

Title: Couch
Author: Amal Nahurriyeh, [personal profile] amalnahurriyeh/[ profile] amalnahurriyeh, amalnahurriyeh at gmail dot com
Summary: What happens when you get out of the taxi. (Sequel to Taxi Ride.)
Pairing: MSR.
Rating: NC-17 for drunken, awkward, yet ultimately successful sex
Warnings: None.
Timeline/Spoilers: Er. I have written myself into a box here, but there's a bed and it's not absurd, so technically post-Monday, but I set the prequel in the first half of s6, so, um, don't ask me, OK?

Written for [ profile] xf_santa, as a gift for [ profile] mimic117. Perhaps not as plotty as you were hoping for, but I really do hope you enjoy. Many thanks to [ profile] maybe_amanda for the beta.

This is a sequel to Taxi Ride, which I wrote for a long-ago pornbattle. It will probably not make sense if you have not read the previous story, but the gist of it is: there was a great deal of alcohol, and a very pleasant cab ride. And Scully's underwear are in her pocket now, though she's going to forget that shortly.

Neither of them are talking as they walk up the steps to his building. )

There is, theoretically, a third part to this story. Hopefully it will take me fewer than 15 months to produce it.
From this (though I, and probably most people who know anything about linguistics, have something to say on the topic of "untranslatable" words).

But anyway:

Yagan (indigenous language of Tierra del Fuego) – The wordless and silent, yet meaningful look shared by two people who both desire to initiate something but are both reluctant to start.

I'm certain someone can do something with that.
