First: you would like Doctor Who. It is crackfic pure and simple. The seasons are both short and self-contained, so it's also easy to watch--you could do a season a week, no problem. All the companions in New Who are also spunky awesome ladies, too. Or Jack Harkness. Who is his own category. Anyway.
On Laura's hair: I am interested in the decision to make her wig not red. The whole first half of the first episode where she wore it, I kept being like, "something is wrong. What is wrong with laura's hair?" I think that might be why it works--because it's so subtley wrong. A red wig would have been more fake looking, maybe? More obviously wiggy?
The styling in IWTB really is an excellent metaphor for what was wrong with the story. GA and DD did a very good job with the material, but how the characters got to this place is both unexplained and definitely not apparent. It was frustrating, to say the least.
And thanks for the typo correction. Before I remembered to spell check I'd already started coding the HTML, and you do not want to spellcheck code, not if you don't want a headache.
